Daal Tarka
 
Lentils
1 1/2 cup Masar Daal ( split red lentils)
1 1/4 cup Mung Daal
1 1/2 cups Water
1 tsp cut ginger and ginger
 
1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
Green Chilies according to taste
Salt according to taste

Tarka
3 tbsp  Oil
1 sliced onion
Red dried chilies
1 sliced tomato
1/2 tbsp cummin whole

   
   

Garnish
Green Chilis
Black pepper
1/2 tsbp garam masala
1-2 drops of lemon juice

 
   

Preparation
Boil and thicken the mixture of lentils in water with ginger, garlic, turmeric, and chilis for about 15 minutes, or until they are soft. Season with salt.

To prepare the tarka, heat the oil add the cummin seeds, dried red chilies and  the onions and tomatoes. Fry the tarka until it is golden brown and pour over the daal..
